Volunteer at the Asian Renal Clinic
Volunteers are welcome at the BWH Asian Renal Clinic. Fluency in both Mandarin and English is strongly recommended. Duties could involve:
- Checking phone messages
- Taking patients around the hospital for registration, blood work, tests etc.
- Booking appointments for patients
- Ushering patients to the examination room
- Helping to design community outreach activities
- Participating in regular health screening activities
- Networking with Chinese community leaders.

Clinical Coordinator:
This is a 20-hours per week part-time position. The candidate will be responsible for providing support, both intellectually and technologically to multiple projects under the principal investigator, Dr. Hsiao. Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Checking phone messages, contacting patients and booking appointments
- Providing support every Monday evening during Asian Renal Clinic hours from 4:30-8:30 PM.
- Coordinating with local organizations to schedule health screenings, training and coordination of personnel for health screenings.
- Constructing and maintaining study databases and case report forms, data entry and quality control,
- Recruiting and tracking of study subjects and study sites
- Coordinating with regulatory affairs and financial sponsors.
- Coordinating with collaborating departments in the hospital, and the preparation and submission of grants and manuscripts.
The candidate will be required to speak Mandarin and English fluently and be willing to travel throughout the city and suburbs for meetings and screenings. Thus, flexibility, multitasking, organization and problem solving are key qualities for a successful candidate.
